On October 15, 2011, the American Nazi Party explained on their Twitter page (ANP14) why they support ‘Occupy Wall Street’.
In a statement 2 days earlier on WhiteHonor Web site (http://www.whitehonor.com) which is affiliated with the American Nazi Party, the writer opined his official support for ‘Occupy Wall Street’, citing “judeo-capitalism” as the evil, corrupted, degenerate ‘enemy‘.
“WHO holds the WEALTH and POWER in this country” he asks, – “the JUDEO-CAPITALISTS” he declares.
“WHO is therefore the #1 ENEMY who makes all this filth happen” he asks, – “the JUDEO-CAPITALISTS” he answers.
On October 16, 2011, the official American Nazi Party Web site has published their ‘Official Statement‘ about the ‘Occupy Wall Street Movement’ which echoed the same sentiment.
New York Magazine, no right-wing rag by any stretch, on October 2, 2011 published a poll of one hundred ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protesters it considers as ones who ‘are in it for the long haul’. Here’s what they had to say about themselves and their ideas:
37% of them said capitalism is inherently immoral.
They think the best countries in the world are Canada and Denmark.
They would fix Wall Street by burning it down, making Elizabeth Warren President and by passing a maximum-wage law.
34% of them are convinced the U.S. government is no better than Al Qaeda.
The sympathetic New York Magazine, in yet another poll of 50 ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protesters published on October 18, 2011, tried to find out how much do the protesters actually know about the economic system that they’re fighting to change, Wall Street, taxes, and government?
72% of them did not know what the S.E.C. (Securities and Exchange Commission) is.
90% of them did not know that the top marginal income tax rate is (currently 35%).
84% of them did not know what is the Dodd–Frank Act (a financial regulations law passed and signed last summer).
To the question: What does the government spend more on? Health care and pensions, education, or the military? 94% of them said government spends more the military. Wrong! The correct answer is ‘health care and pensions’, which accounted for 43 percent of government outlays in 2010. Defense accounted for 20 percent.
Given that current capital gains tax rate stands at 15 percent, protesters were asked what would they want the capital gains tax rate to be. 6% of them want to see a 100 percent capital gains tax rate. 58% of them want the capital gains tax rate to be between 25-80 percent.
President Obama keeps saying that America’s rich need to pay ‘their fair share’, implying that currently they are not.
On Sep. 17, 2011 he said that Americans need to be ready to “pay their fair share…” to narrow the deficit, adding “On Monday, I’ll lay out my plan for how we’ll do that — how we’ll pay for this plan and pay down our debt by following some basic principles: making sure we live within our means and asking everyone to pay their fair share.”
On Sep. 19, 2011 he called for up to $1.5 trillion in new taxes on “the wealthiest Americans…”. “If we’re going to make spending cuts, many of which we wouldn’t make if we weren’t facing such large budget deficits, then it’s only right that we ask everyone to pay their fair share…”.
Since Obama is asking the ‘rich’ to do what ‘is fair’ and ‘pay their fair share’, one can naturally infer he believes the rich are currently not paying their fair share.*
Top 1% earners (and tax payers) pay over 38% of total Federal income tax collected by IRS from individuals. Not a fair share?
Top 5% earners (and tax payers) pay about 59% of total Federal income tax collected by IRS from individuals.
Not a fair share?
Top 10% earners (and tax payers) pay about 70% of total Federal income tax collected by IRS from individuals. Not a fair share?
* Obama’s opposition to keeping the current income tax brackets is well documented throughout his presidency, reinforced in his White House Rose Garden speech on Sep. 20, 2011, in which he said “We can’t afford these special lower rates for the wealthy…”
